The Brave Boy and Therapeutic Clowns at CHEO (plus Mario photobombing)

Reunited (and it feels so good!)

So happy to be back together after over three weeks apart.

The day started out pretty grumpy. Ollie had his lumbar puncture at 9 am and woke up ravenous about 5 am, complaining every 20 minutes about his hunger. The LP itself went well and his pressure was normal again for his cerebrospinal fluid. No word yet on the cell count.

Ollie was pretty excited to see his daddy and sister today, but was very impatient for them to get here so was pretty grumpy while he waited. He was also getting his chemo at this time (and every 12 hours for the next 48), so was annoyed that we could not go down to the gift shop.

Thankfully he fell asleep and had a nap before they arrived, so he was in better spirits when they got here.

Mario and Abby are better, but wore masks to protect him. That was also one of the conditions Abby had to follow to be allowed special permission to visit her brother despite CHEO's current ban on visits from kids under 14 given it's peak virus season.

Despite his blindness, Ollie is still way better at Beyblades them any of us! We spent part of the afternoon having a tournament with him.

The love and bond between these two has solidified in the last few months. Before lymphoma, of course they loved each other, but  it was common for there to be rivalry and fighting between the two, as with many siblings. Now  they're so sweet together it almost breaks my heart to see it. Absence of course, does make the heart grow fonder.
Abby also helped Ollie to begin to prepare some Valentine's for his class. Ever the planner, she reminded us that she'd need them by no later than February 12 to get them to his teacher on the 13th since the 14th is a PD Day.

So we hung out in the Sens Den for a while at Ollie's request so that he could have a change of scenery. He is readily exhausted still, so we did use the wheelchair that Occupational Therapy brought him yesterday. We finished our visit with Swiss Chalet and by the time Abby and Mario were done dinner, Ollie was already fast asleep.

Being a lymphoma warrior is exhausting work. So are emotional reunions, but we're sure glad we finally had one.

Keeping the Family Healthy During and Post Cancer

When Ollie was first diagnosed I had a terrible upper chest and sinus infection. Likely exacerbated from the stress of testing and diagnosis...
